The Scholarship Application period for the 2022-23 CSOYO season opens on June 1 and closes on July 15, 2022. All applications and supporting materials must be received by the CSOYO Manager by this date to be considered. Applicants will be notified of any awards prior to the August 1, 2022 tuition deadline.  See OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS below for additional information and deadlines.

Current CSOYO members who plan to attend the Sewanee Summer Music Festival can apply to be selected and awarded a tuition scholarship. To find out more information about the SSMF, visit: To apply, applicants must:

1. Complete the below scholarship application.

2. Submit proof of Sewanee registration and a parent/guardian recommendation letter to the CSOYO Manager.

The Teacher Evaluation Form will be sent to the applicant’s private teacher by the CSOYO Manager upon receipt of the application. The Grace Russell Scholarship will be awarded at the Side-by-Side Concert on February 27, 2023.


A limited number of needs-based scholarships are available to musicians who successfully audition and are selected to an orchestra for the 2022-23 season.



This full tuition scholarship is awarded to an oboe player who has been selected for CSOYO membership during the upcoming season, in memory of the late Bob Burks, principal oboist in the CSO.



This full tuition scholarship is given to a new, first-year member of the CSOYO, in either the Prelude or Etude orchestra, each season in memory of Ms. Floy Wang, Etude & Prelude Conductor from 2014-2018.

SANDY MORRIS SCHOLARSHIP.  ***New this season!

This full tuition scholarship is awarded to two new Philharmonic member of the CSOYO, each season in honor of Sandy Morris and her 24 years of dedication & service as conductor of the Philharmonic.



Student Managers are needed for the 2022-2023 CSOYO Season. Student Managers are selected by the conductors of each orchestra (two each for Symphony & Philharmonic, one each for Etude & Prelude) and the CSOYO Manager. They receive a 50% discount off the regular tuition rate for their orchestra.
