Metiney Suwanawongse started her musical studies at a young age as a Suzuki violinist. A violist at heart, she "officially" switched instruments for graduate school. Primarily an orchestral player, she is currently a member of the viola sections of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, Huntsville Symphony, and West Virginia Symphony Orchestras. As an educator she has served as faculty in the School of Music at Southern Illinois University, directed and coached various community and youth orchestras, and teaches violin and viola lessons from her private studio in Chattanooga.
