Sheri Peck is a native of Marietta, GA. At the age of 5 she began her violin training with Lynn Baughman at the Suzuki School of the Arts in Atlanta. In high school, she studied with Virginia-Gene Rittenhouse and toured the U.S. and abroad as a soloist and member of the New England Youth Ensemble (based in South Lancaster, MA). In 1989, she joined the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra as section first violinist. In 1992, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance from Southern Adventist University (Collegedale, TN) where she studied with Mark Reneau. In that same year, she won the full-time position of CSO Principal Second Violin, which she currently holds.
She performs regularly with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Bryan Symphony Orchestra (at TTU), and John’s Creek Symphony, and has performed with the Alabama Symphony, Charleston Symphony (SC), Memphis Symphony, Rome Symphony, Valdosta Symphony, and TN Summer Symphony. As a chamber musician, Sheri has been principal second violinist of the Chamber Orchestra of TN since 2002, and first violinist with the Tempo Primo String Quartet since 1994. Summer festivals include the Baroque Performance Institute at Oberlin, Superior Music Festival/Finn Grand Fest in Marquette, MI, and the Bach Festival in Rome, GA.

Why did you choose your instrument?
My two older sisters played violin and I wanted to be just like them!!
Where did you go to school? Who did you study with?
I went to Southern Adventist University and studied with Orlo Gilbert and Marke Reneau. When I was in high school, I toured with the New England Youth Orchestra and studied with Dr. Virginia-Gene Rittenhouse.
What are your hobbies?
I love cooking, traveling, working in the yard, trying new thing…
Do you have a family? Pets?
My dad lives in Atlanta, I have a sister in Wyoming and a sister in Guam. And I have two cats, Leo and Carmel.
What is your favorite Chattanooga restaurant?
Who is your favorite composer? Piece?
I absolutely ADORE J.S. Bach. I’m not sure I have a favorite piece.
